GRANDMASTER HONGS TAEKWONDO ACADEMY

Grandmaster Hong approached me with the opportunity to redo his school’s logo. This was an enormous honor.

He is a highly respected, 9th Dan blackbelt who has been practicing and teaching Taekwondo since the 1950s in South Korea. He is also founded the Taekwondo club at Brown University.

My goal was to provide a mark that would be modern yet reflecting tradition. Taking red and blue from the Korean Flag, I combined it with a sporty fabric pattern. The kick is taken from one of Grandmaster Hong’s favorite photos hanging in the dojang. The logo needed to work on signage, on clothing, on vehicle wraps, etc.
